How long does it take to turn a written manuscript into a book?

If you’ve followed the program, your book should be mostly “timeless” and be successful no matter when you publish it.

Don’t worry too much if you can’t hit your personal deadline. Timing can give you a tiny boost, but it’s not a huge deal when you release your book.

That said, here’s a common timeline for publishing:

  • Once the book is done, it usually takes around 2 weeks to prepare everything for launch (if you follow the program closely).
  • The only things that can hold you up are waiting for an editor (editors are optional — see the lessons on editing for more info — and simply ask your editor for a timeline if needed) and waiting for a cover designer (also optional — and you’ll also want to ask them, if you have one).

Most cover designers will get things done within ~2 weeks, but of course there are no guarantees.

Besides that, nothing should hold up publishing once the manuscript is done!
