FAQs on Setting The Price Of Your Book

55% is the industry standard for the warehouse discount price.

If you are having trouble after reading the “Set Your Price” lesson in Week 11, I would recommend the following:

  • When you publish on Amazon KDP, you will be presented with pricing options.
  • Start by choosing the “70% royalty” option for your Kindle edition. That means you will receive 70% of the proceeds from sales personally.
  • It will then present you with a minimum price. If you want your book to be on the cheaper side, choose the cheapest option. If not, increase it by 20%.

The numbers are slightly different for each country that you will publish in (and you will see that no matter where you live, you will be able to publish worldwide), so I cannot give any precise numbers.

The minimum price for a digital book (”kindle edition”) is 99 cents.

The minimum price for your paperback edition will be displayed when you are uploading to Amazon — it will be equivalent of the printing cost of the book. It’s usually around $5.

All sales count toward bestseller status, regardless of price!

It should be very clear once you upload to KDP, but please let me know if you have follow-up questions at that point.
